My Quora Replies

Just a few summary of Quora answers that i have written..

the questions are not mine but the answers i wrote are summarized here:

Why does Indian cinema (or Bollywood) in general still struggle with film editing (unnecessary length, mandatory stupid songs even in serious movies)?

My answer: lot of people are dependent on movies and we cannot make them go unemployed. Unlike foreign countries we cannot let people go from work just like that… songs, lyrics, music, dance, fights alone comprise close to 500 -600 people average per movie.. and since movies are anyway making money (which is why they make movies with songs and fights).. there is no reason as to why 600 people should be left jobless just because they do dance and fight or write songs for a living..
movies without songs and dance and fights are also done but those are not famous anyway..

My answer: In India nobody gets monopoly in any business .. tomorrow if http://tickets.inor some other player comes and provides better facilities and rewards and better pay all will move to that guy anyway..
or if book my show run out of investor money and go deep in debts like other startups like flipkart (who had 1800 cr losses), and other website suddenly gets JackMa or SoftBank investing in them then automatically BMS will fall down in the race and other guy will take “monopoly”..

My answerIn India million is 10 lakhs.. so if you get more than 10lakhs per annum as INR you are millionaire..
or if you pay 30% income tax you are indian millionaire..

My answer: hype and good marketing
last minute involvement of big production houses and high rate for satellite rights.. five language translation..
putting an amazing trailer and waiting to make it viral slowly so that everyone starts to anticipate was a good marketing move…

What are some realities and hypes about Aamir Khan's 1000 crore movie "Mahabharat"?

My answer: its a hype actually the movie may not do that well since each and every character will be taken from the A-List and paying them a huge amount as salary would eat away the 1000 crores easily..
take Avatar for example which is biggest earner in the world till date.. that movie has so good because the actors were not that big but the character in the movie was big and thats what matters..
If you bring 20–30 A-list characters to be 5 Pandavas and their mom and dad, few kauravas (say 5) and their mom and dad, drona, bheeshma, krishna, krishna’s sister and her child, shakuni etc.. their costumes, their effects and arts direction, camera tricks all these things will take away 200 crores..
now if they change something in the story then there will be lot of protests against the movie which means money wasted for lobbying and court cases.
if they remake in 5 languages then dubbing, rerecording, songs, dance, lyrics, music itself will be correctly eating away 1000 crores..
in the end it will just be a Mahabharath movie thats all..
